THE THIRTEEN ROSES

Julia Conesa Conesa

(19 years, dressmaker). Born in Oviedo. He lived in Madrid with her mother and two sisters. One of them died of grief (the death of her boyfriend on the guerrillas) when she was arrested. Adelina García Casillas

Elena Gil Olaya (20 years). He joined the JSU in 1937. After the war he began working in the group of Chamartin.

Dionisia Manzanero Salas
(20 years, dressmaker). He joined the Communist Party in April 1938 after a rocket killed his sister and some kids playing in a field. When the war was the link between communist leaders in Madrid. She was arrested on May 16, 1939.

Carmen Barrero Aguero (20 years, dressmaker). He worked for 12 years after the death of his father to help support his family, who had 8 siblings, 4 children to her. PCE militant after the war, was responsible for women's match in Madrid. She was arrested on May 16, 1939.

Gallego Ana Lopez (21, dressmaker). JSU militant. He was secretary of Chamartin radio during the war. Her boyfriend, also a Communist, he proposed to go to France, but she decided to stay with her three younger siblings in Madrid. She was arrested on May 16 but was not taken to jail Sales until 6 June. It has not died in the first discharge and asked "Is that I do not kill me?"

Laffite Joaquina Lopez (23). In September 1936 he joined the JSU. secretariat was entrusted with the clandestine female Provincial Committee. It was reported by Severino Rodríguez (number two in the JSU). She was arrested on April 18, 1939 at his home with his brothers. She was taken to a villa. She was accused of being a communist, but ignored the position he held. Joaquina recognized its activism during the war, but not today. Martina Barroso García (24, dressmaker). When the war began participating in the organization of the JSU Chamartin. Went to the left front of the City University to search for weapons and ammunition (which was forbidden). Are still some of the original letters he wrote to her boyfriend and his family from prison.

Pilar Bueno Ibáñez (27 years, dressmaker). When the war he joined the PCE and worked as a volunteer in nurseries (where collected for orphans and children of militants who went to the front). He was appointed secretary of North radio organization. When the war was responsible for the reorganization of PCE in eight areas of Madrid. She was arrested on 16 mayo de 1939.

Blanca Brisac Vázquez (29 años, pianista). La mayor de las trece. Tenía un hijo. No tenía ninguna militancia política. Era católica y votante de las derechas. Fue detenida por relacionarse con un músico perteneciente al Partido Comunista. Escribió una carta a su hijo la madrugada del 5 de agosto de 1939, que le fue entregada por su familia (todos de derechas) 16 años después. La carta aun se conserva.

LUCIAN FREUD , painted a portrait of the artist 1952 JOHN MINTON . Today, a walk to the blog of NORAY ( beautiful and desirable blog), I found this other Portrait of John Minton , painted in 1941 by Michael Ayrton (do not know all of this painter, I have not looked yet).
